The Spotlight, Volume-1, Issue-10:

Spotlight Vol. 1, Issue 10 explores the surge of youth-led protest movements across South Asia, with a focus on the recent Gen Z uprising in Nepal and its parallels with the manipulated protest wave in Bangladesh in 2024. This issue examines how sincere activism can be co-opted by authoritarian regimes or political opportunists, and how today’s youth must remain vigilant to misinformation, infiltration, and ideological distortion.

Key contributions include:

  • A journalistic analysis of Nepal’s “digital rebellion” sparked by the government’s social media ban and the tragic fallout that claimed 19 lives.

  • Reflections on the Bangladesh quota protest movement and its political misappropriation leading to regime change.

  • A call to Generation Z to balance emotion with awareness, and resistance with reason.

  • A continuation of GCDG’s commitment to fostering democratic resilience, critical thinking, and intergenerational dialogue.
