About This Special Issue
The Global Center for Democratic Governance (GCDG) presents Volume 1, Issue 1 of Spotlight Quarterly, published on 15 August 2026 as a Special Issue on National Mourning Day.
This inaugural issue brings together writers, academics, analysts and commentators to examine significant chapters in Bangladesh’s political and historical development. The contributions explore the life and political legacy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the formative years of independent Bangladesh, foreign policy, state-building, political memory, sovereignty, democracy and national identity.
Through historical essays, analytical perspectives and personal reflections, the issue invites readers to engage critically with Bangladesh’s past and its continuing relevance to questions of democratic governance, justice, national memory and the country’s political future.
